Colin Williams – Client Story

A little bit of background

Colin is a Director of Wescott Williams, the preferred organisational and people development consultancy for many of the UK’s most respected organisations.

He specialises in enabling the development of Senior Managers and Directors with a particular emphasis on one-to-one coaching at Director level. He has a Masters in Personal & Organisational Development.

So why did Colin feel that he needed our help and guidance?

Colin told us right at the start that he regarded money as a means to lead an enjoyable and purposeful life and was not interested in making money just for the sake of it.

He wanted us to help him develop a plan which would enable him to achieve financial independence as soon as possible, so that he didn’t have to worry about money and could concentrate on a meaningful and interesting life.

We created a model of Colin’s current financial situation and overlaid his future aims and aspirations to see what he needed to do in order to make his plan work. We then reviewed the model every year taking account of some major changes in Colin’s circumstances and over the last 15 years we have guided him to a point where he can now choose how much work he does, when and indeed if!

How Colin thinks Magenta has helped

When we asked Colin to detail the highlights of his relationship with us he said “I believe you have a genuine understanding of me and how finance is an enabler to me, as opposed to being interested in ‘my money’.  I feel that you are committed to my success and have a “plan – do – review” approach to achieving a desired outcome. I am glad that you are not afraid to challenge and confront me from time to time to ensure that I maximise financial efficiencies, don’t make any silly mistakes and that I overcome any prejudices or misconceptions, thus allowing us to stick to the plan.”

What Colin said about Magenta

When we asked Colin to consider the positive outcomes of our service, he said “over the years, there have been many positives, but the main one for me is that at age 53 I am in a position where I benefit from having a high degree of informed choice about what I do for the rest of my life.  I am about to take a 6 month sabbatical and may or may not return to work in some way or form, but will be making that decision not overly concerned by financial considerations.  It feels pretty good!”

We are delighted that as a Financial Planning company, we have been able to help Colin achieve his goals, while also achieve our own stated aims of helping our clients to build plans for future security and happiness.
