At the beginning of 2021 we decided we wanted to do more about becoming a ‘greener’ company and doing our bit for the environment.
We found a great company called Ecologi https://ecologi.com/ who’s passion is helping companies reduced their carbon footprint, through tree planting and investing in projects that reduce greenhouse gases.
Every month, we pay a fee to Ecologi to invest and plant on our behalf. We also make an extra payment when we take on a new client. We will name the extra trees in the clients’ name.
Anyone can become a member of Ecologi and we are pleased to say we have already had one of our suppliers sign up.
Our update
Not only are we growing a substantial forest we are also reducing our carbon footprint and can proudly say we are a climate positive workforce.
What is a climate-positive workforce?
This means every team member at Magenta has their entire life’s carbon footprint offset. The carbon footprint includes our time at work, business travel, and time outside of work. Every team member can now proudly say they are carbon neutral.
Carbon saving
Our 105.5 tonnes saving is equivalent to one of the following. Seeing the impact as actual savings helps to understand the difference we are making. We were especially surprised to see how many miles in a car the saved carbon equated to. Did any surprise you?
Trees
We have enjoyed seeing the projects and areas our trees are being planted. Its good to know that at Magenta we are making an impact across the world.
Some of the Projects our money has helped support
- Preserving over 27,000 hectares of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil
- Using waste biomass to produce electricity in Chile
- Protecting lowland peat forest in Indonesia
Christmas present
This year we decided that we would donate to Ecologi in lieu of Christmas gifts. We managed to purchase 1000 trees and 20 tonnes of carbon offset on your behalf.
