At Magenta, we want to help our clients create a plan for their finances that helps them to live a life that is financially secure and filled with happiness.
“Wealth is the ability to fully experience life,” said Henry David Thoreau.
Certainly creating a financial plan which enables you to live a life which is filled with meaning, joy and purpose is a far worthier goal than the simple acquisition of investments.
However, our experience is that many people struggle to decide what kind of life it is that they want to experience.
Life is busy and our daily demands and routines often prevent us from thinking about what we truly want to achieve in life.
At Magenta, we encourage our clients to think about what it is they want, by asking some key questions:
What are your specific goals for the future (lifestyle and financial/short term/longer term)?
What might prevent you from achieving your goals?
When you are financially secure and have achieved your goals – How would you live your life? Would you change anything?
Now imagine that you visit your doctor, who tells you that you have only 5-10 years to live. You won’t ever feel sick, but you will have no notice of the moment of your death. What will you do in the time you have remaining? Will you change your life and how will you do it given your current financial circumstances?
To whom do you wish to leave your wealth when you die?
What would you like your obituary to say?
What does this have to do with your finances you might ask?
We believe that this must be the key and backbone to any financial planning you do.
Once you have considered these questions and understand what kind of life it is that you want live, then we can work together with you to begin to build a financial plan to will help you achieve the wealth you need to live it.
