As the tax year end approaches, we want to make everyone aware of the latest tax ‘scam’ that is linked to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs. (HMRC)
Some clients have received calls from people purporting to be from HMRC and saying they have underpaid their income tax this year.
They go on to explain that they will incur a fine and that to avoid this and the bailiffs, they need to pay immediately. They then request debit/credit card details.
HMRC has said that it will never send emails, text messages or ‘phone people requesting personal or payment information.
Please be vigilant and share this information where appropriate.
