Yoga and Life Skills

This week, Julie and Gretchen took a few days out in Albir, Spain at La Crisalida – a yoga and wellbeing retreat.  What an amazing place!

Fellow guests were there from all over the world and all had one thing in common – they wanted some time to relax and rejuvenate, time to focus on their life plans, goals and maybe work out the answers to some problems.

In our society we are expected to just keep going and rest is sometimes considered indulgent. This is increasingly being challenged by well-being experts and Julie and Gretchen spent some time while away, thinking about why this type of downtime is important.

The reality is, that taking time to rest and recuperate can do wonders for your day-to-day life. You will feel recharged, allowing you to deal with your commitments, your relationships and your overall health and wellbeing with MORE vigor and energy. It’s a worthwhile investment of time, because the efficiency of a well-rested mind will make every area of your life more productive and joyful.

When you just go go go, without taking a minute, you are actually mentally and physically exhausting yourself. Remember, your mind and body are intrinsically connected. More than that, studies show that sleep and rest are essential to the body and mind – crucial as we all get older, for maintaining a physically strong body and a robust memory.

Julie and Gretchen spent 4 days meditating, taking yoga classes, walking and talking. Rest doesn’t have to be just lazing around, but it does need to be of a good quality.

Yoga and meditation force you to focus on yourself and your environment, helping develop some key life skills, including, focus, self-control, patience, empathy, mental flexibility and stress management.

In today’s modern world, building these essential life skills not only help us to survive, but to thrive and prosper!

At Magenta, we want to speak to you about your life – how you want it to be; and who and what is important to you. We understand that it’s not all about money, but can help you to organise your financial affairs to help you to live the life you want.
